On Tuesday, I took my brainstorming and actually typed it out on mural. I typed out the quotes and my reasoning to pick them but forgot the page #, so I had to go back and refind them which was unfortunate. I honestly don't agree with Mr. Rease's comment that if my group members don't do their part I will also be penalized for it. I feel like if I do my part along with other things I have on my plate in and out of school what somebody else chooses to or not to do has nothing to do with me, and my grade shouldn't suffer from it.

On Monday, I read the story Rockpile and began brainstorming the quotes I thought would best fit my group assignment. I continuously saw how the author James Baldwin constantly did things to make me as the reader earth feel the story or use my imagination to see scenes in the story. This story is also full of lessons and accurate real-world obstacles. For example, Roy's father told him not to mess around at the rockpile but he did anyway in rebellion which is similar to today's generation, and ended up getting hurt.

Write about a gift that was not well received.

I once gave my uncle a fancy coffee maker for his birthday, thinking it would be the perfect gift. To my surprise, he didn't seem too thrilled. It turned out he had given me the exact same coffee maker the previous year, and I had completely forgotten about it. It was an awkward moment, but we laughed it off eventually.

Write about something you planned to do

Upon moving, I planned to decorate my room in a certain type of way. My room was pretty big so I wanted some small furniture in it such as a couch. I also planned on having a very big mirror. Overall, my plan did fall into place with minor changes to it.

Write about something that was to big/small

I once bought a sweater online that looked perfect in the pictures, but when it arrived, it was way too big. I felt like I was swimming in it! It was disappointing because I had been really excited about it, but it ended up being a lesson in always checking the size guide carefully before making a purchase.

Write about having no fun at all

I remember a time when I had no fun at all during a particularly stressful project at work. The deadlines were tight, and the workload was overwhelming. Every day felt like a grind, with long hours and little to no breaks. It was hard to find any enjoyment in my routine, and the stress really started to weigh on me. It taught me the importance of balancing work with activities that bring joy and relaxation.

Write about something you are certain of

I'm certain that having a strong support system in my personal life has made all the difference. Whether it's family, friends, or a significant other, knowing that there are people who care about me and have my back gives me the strength to face challenges and pursue my goals. Their encouragement and love are constants that I can always rely on.

Write a long thank you letter

Hey Mom, I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for everything you’ve done for me. Your unwavering support and guidance have been crucial in shaping who I am today. From helping me with my homework to cheering me on at my basketball games, you’ve always been there, and I can't thank you enough for that. I especially appreciate the life lessons you’ve taught me, like the importance of hard work, honesty, and kindness. These values have not only helped me in my personal life but also in my professional journey. Your belief in me has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams and face challenges head-on.  Thank you for being such an incredible role model and for always having my back. I hope to make you proud and continue to live by the principles you’ve instilled in me. I love you more than words can express. With all my love, [Zianni]

Write about a secret being revealed

I remember the day my girlfriend revealed her big secret to me. We were sitting in the park, just talking about our future plans, when she told me she had enlisted in the military and was getting ready for basic training. It was a huge shock because I had no idea she was even considering it. I felt a mix of emotions, proud of her bravery but also scared about what this meant for us.

Write a long apology

Hey Mom, I want to start by saying how deeply sorry I am for not keeping up with my responsibilities around the house, especially with the dishes the other day. I know you work really hard, and the last thing you need is to come home to a mess. I should have been more mindful and respectful of the promises I made to you.  I understand that my actions have consequences and that I let you down. I want you to know that I am committed to doing better. I will make sure to manage my time more effectively and prioritize my chores so that this doesn't happen again. I appreciate everything you do for me, and I want to show you that I can be responsible and dependable.  Thank you for your patience and understanding. I love you and really want to make things right. Love, [Zianni]

Write about what you used to know how to do.

I used to know how to play the piano pretty well. When I was younger, I took lessons for a few years and even performed in a couple of recitals. As I got older and more involved in basketball, I stopped practicing and eventually forgot most of what I learned. Sometimes I miss it and think about picking it up again someday.

Write about when you knew you were in trouble.

I knew I was in trouble when I heard my mom's car pull into the driveway, and the sink was still full of dirty dishes. I had promised her I would wash them before she got home, but I got distracted and completely forgot. The moment she walked into the kitchen and saw the mess, I could see the disappointment on her face. I knew I'd have to face the consequences and make it up to her somehow.

Write about what you have too much of.

I have way too many clothes. My closet is bursting at the seams, and I still find myself buying more. It's gotten to the point where I can't even remember half of what I own. I keep telling myself I'll sort through them and donate what I don't wear, but it's easier said than done.

Write about something you can't deny.

I can't deny how much I love playing basketball. It's not just a sport to me; it's a passion and a big part of who I am. Every time I step onto the court, I feel a rush of excitement and determination. No matter what happens, basketball will always be my go-to for fun, stress relief, and personal growth.

Write about something/someone being born.

I remember when my little nephew was born. It was such an exciting time for our family. My mom and I went to the hospital to visit, and seeing that tiny baby for the first time was so special. Holding him in my arms, I felt a mix of joy and responsibility, knowing that he’d look up to me as he grew.

Write about a time when you'd dressed inappropriately for the occasion.

There was this one time I dressed inappropriately for an occasion, and it was pretty embarrassing. I remember it was a friend's birthday party, and I thought it was a casual get-together, so I showed up in my basketball gear straight from practice. When I arrived, everyone else was dressed nicely in semi-formal attire. I felt so out of place and uncomfortable the whole time. It definitely taught me to always double-check the dress code before heading out to events.

10/9/24

Yesterday i learned the importance of factoring different identifications with their claim. Doing this helps better understand what the article is trying to say and the evidence. I also better learned the difference between claim of value, fact and policy. I also learned the importance of organization because some of the questions weren't in order with the article and could easily be confusing.

10/7/24

Today, i learned how important credible evidence is. I also learned that it comes in three categories. One being experience which is things that I have personally experienced to speak on. Another is observation which is based on what I see. Lastly and honestly the most reliable is reading. This includes research about the subject wether its using the internet, news etc.
