Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

One day, I decided to be a baker and make cookies. I got all the ingredients but once it got time to mix everything together, it was a mess. Nothing mixed how it was supposed to , i put too much of an ingredient too little of an ingredient it was just all a chaotic mess. It made me laugh a-lot and ever since i never attempted to bake cookies again.

Judith Ortiz Cofer says, “The Island travels with you.” What part of your culture, family, or identity do you feel “travels” with you everywhere you go?

I think the skill of cooking travels with me. Since i was younger my grandmother used to cook very often. From the morning time to the afternoon all the way up until the evening. My uncle took after her and he would cook every sh day for Sunday dinner; in which me and my mom would attend every weekend. My mom is also a cook which only made it right for me to be.

Prompt: Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

I was portrayed as a “ghetto and un-put” young lady because of where I grew up. Though I am intelligent and carry myself well, some stereotypes don’t have a limit. I kept it moving and corrected the opposition. Stereotypes can hurt people and make them lose sight of who they are.

Prompt: Describe something you will never fully understand.

I never understood the hov lane. If it’s a “fast lane”, why does it have to be more than one person in the car. It’s almost like an inconvenience. It being the other way around definitely makes more sense to me.

Write about something that you wish you had more of.

I wish I had more peace meaning all the distractions around me would silence. My mind is constantly racing with worries, overthinking, and what-ifs, and it leaves me feeling tired. Sometimes I confuse distraction with peace, but deep down I know real peace feels still. I crave a calm that doesn’t depend on everything being perfect just on me being okay with whatever is. worked on the adobe poster

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

For my mom’s birthday I made her a poster that had puns and real candies finish the puns. Things like “Now that you’re 36 , I bet you bones (crunch) now." Crunch being a real crunch bar to fill in the word. This stood out because of how creative and affordable this was when I was younger.   Out sick

2 of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

One of the first burning question about life is “Would I live differently if I knew the exact date I would pass away.” Knowing the exact date of my death would force me to appreciate and value my life more. It would take away the excuses and delays, pushing me to prioritize what truly matters instead of getting lost in the noise of daily routine. The second burning question about life is “Am I loving people in the way they need, or the way I want to give? This question matters to me because I’ve started realizing that love isn’t just about intention it’s about impact. Sometimes I give what  I  think is love, but it doesn’t always reach people the way they need it. did a paper on I too today i learned more about perseverance

Prompt: Describe a time where you felt completely lost.

I’ve recently saw these pair of shoes on TikTok and immediately got up and went to the mall to see if they had them. The color I was originally supposed to get were out of stock in my size however, they suggest 2 other colors they had in which I had no idea about. Both colors were super cute and I felt completely lost at that point on which one to choose.   talked about i too by langston hughes today i was tired

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

This week made me really think about who I am and why I should be appreciative. One strength I think I will obtain is the ability to better understand many other people's cultures. A challenge I think I'll face is poems. For example, last year we read plenty of poems, and the long, sophisticated poems were always a challenge for me to get on my own.  Today i wrote two paragraphs based on a reflection of my cultural mask Today i learned endeavors means to try

Prompt: Describe how gender roles or patriarchy influence your identity?

Gender roles influence identity by perception and expectation. If you dont behave a certain way, your identity would be looked at differently from other people, which has to do with your character. For example, if you're a girl and you burp without saying excuse me, that's considered not ladylike, and others may think of you in a negative, non-ladylike manner Today I made a mask that expresses my identity Today I learned to draw a proper trail

Prompt: Describe a meaningful family tradition unique to your culture and explain how it mirrors or contrasts with the cultural identity themes of expectations and roles in "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.

A family tradition unique to my culture is Sunday dinners. This mirrors the expectation in "Girl" by the person in charge of cooking. It shows how important because not only are you cooking for yourself, you're cooking for others, so you have to be precise. It also mirrors because most of the expectations given to women are to make other people happy, and that's exactly what Sunday dinner does. Today I took senior ID pictures learned you can't wear a purse while taking pictures for senior ID

Prompt: Reflect on how your cultural heritage shapes your daily expectations, inspired by "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.

My culture heritage shapes my daily expectations to be a youmd lady of professionalism and etiquette. As well as knowing to take care of myself and not always count on another to care for me. Things like keeping my hygiene up, cleaning after myself , being generous , and handsy things like taking out the trash.  Today we read “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid. Reading this prompt made me see how other cultures are really stict.
