Prompt: After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

In the making of this project it took some creativity and focus. This project was fairly easy, it just took some time. I used a template to fulfill this project and elements to add pictures in regards to each comparison. I think the descriptions really helped with the understanding of these similes and metaphors and really helped me see that similes and metaphors can put a deeper meaning into things big or small.

Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

The topic that was hardest for me was "learning who you are or who you want to become." It was hard for me too find a comparison to relate to this that wasn't the same as the comparison used for the topic , "Moving schools, friendships ending, growing up. Since they are kind of similar in struggles it was hard for me to think of two different comparisons. To work through it I asked for some recommendations from different classmates to get an idea.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

While creating similes and metaphors that reflected on my struggles i realized how creative i am and how many things can truly be compared to relatable feelings and event. I learned that ive grown a lot mentally and pushed through a lot more things than i realized. A lot of times things people go through can be downplayed when sometime it needs to be more looked upon and even maybe exaggerated. I also realized how hard it is to creatively think of these comparisons on the spot.

Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicl

Over the break i found myself doing alot of cleaning, self reflecting and binge watching. It seemed like everyday of the break i found myself cleaning something new but i honestly enjoyed it. I also did some reflecting on my relationships and how i handled things in the past, and what i could do to be better. My favorite YouTuber uploaded a bunch during this break so i spent alot of time watching him

Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

If i had to describe how i show loving using three objects it would be music , gifts, and a message. I say music because despite the violent artist today, there are alot of artist and songs that are extremely relatable and sometime when you’re too bashful to say something directly sending a song is easier. I say gifts because im a gifter, and i love the way giving gifts make other people feel. Lastly , i say a message because, theres nothing like a nice thoughtful message expressing how you feel,

Prompt: Consider your experience reading The Color Purple (a fictional novel), Fences (a play/drama), and Wild (a nonfiction memoir). Which type of longer text did you enjoy the most, the novel, the play, or the memoir, and which did you find the most challenging? Explain your preference, describe what made that type of text more engaging or accessible for you, and reflect on how understanding your preference might influence how you approach future readings.

Out of all the books read the book I probably enjoyed the most is the book wild. I say this because its a but more gen z and not hard to understand. Im more so into mental/emotional drama and this book was very emotional and raw. I think in the future if i had to read id read similar books because of the understanding level and even relating level.

Prompt: Even if you have not presented yet, how did participating as a listener, note-taker, or responder during the Interactive Oral help you prepare for your own discussion?

My participation involved me listening to the speakers and answering the questions asked. I also participated in all the interactive assignments and actually took time to think about my answer despite them not being the actual teacher. I also saw how everyone else moved, and when it was my turn to present, did what j could to make everyone listening and participating feel as comfortable as me and my group could.

Prompt: In the spirit of Valentine’s Day week, describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about (a friend, family member, or significant person in your life).

The perfect day to me with my mom is 10am morning with homemade breakfast . After that i would say chill for some time then play cards. Next, i would want to go out do some shopping followed by lunch. Finally, i would like a good nap and a nice dinner.

Prompt: If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

If I had to write a poem about my life right now it would be about my grind in school to get all A's all year and my focus in college. Its taken a lot to maintain all A's and I would go into detail about things Ive done to maintain. Staying on top of college is hard for a lot of teenagers because of the responsibility side of it o I would talk about the struggles and how stressful it is. My overall poem would be about my efforts in school.

Prompt: When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

When I'm in a mood I don't like, I tend to bed rot , take a shower, watch YouTube and eat. I find peace in watching YouTube while I eat. The YouTubers I watch tend to be funny so I get a good laugh off. Taking a shower is always good to get the stress off but I also find peace in just laying in bed.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Something I outgrown but miss is playing basketball. I started the sport when I was younger so I have a connection to the sport. I always loved the sport and playing the sport but the older I got, and the more I went through, the more my love for basketball faded. Although I know it was too much stress for me ,  I still miss the feeling of being on a team and physically working with others to execute.

Prompt: Write about something that you heard that you wish you could unhear.

I cannot thing of anything I previously heard and wish I could unheard but I can think of a time when I saw something I wish I could unsee. One day at work, my manager was going on and on about how people are going to get fired. She stressed that the work ethic wasn't there, there was no accountability, and people where being irresponsible. This same day I had to get something out of her office and came across a piece of paper that was titled "Fired." I didn't mean to purposely look but the item I needed was sitting right on top of this piece of paper. My favorite coworkers name was on the paper and I was stuck in between minding my business and not saying anything or giving her a heads up. I got so stressed and just wished I never went in to that office.

Prompt: Reflect on a time when you or someone you know had to choose between fitting in and staying true to their identity; what was gained or lost in that experience?

My step mother told me a story once before about how she had to force herself to fit in the older she got. My step mother is from St. Croix, meaning she had a very strong accent and way of living. When she was younger she moved to Maryland. Upon arrival, she told us about how she got bullied for her accent and became self conscious. Sooner or later, every morning and night, she had to practice "speaking like everyone else." Others indeed did stop bullying her , but she lost apart of who she was.

Prompt: Much of this section focuses on Cheryl’s physical exhaustion and discomfort. Describe a moment when your body limited what you could do, and explain what that experience taught you about your mental strength.

In 2024 I went through an incident that impaired my running because of a leg injury. Given i played a sport, i needed to run a lot. After realizing i couldn't run as i could prior to the incident it made me feel incompetent. Knowing there was nothing I could do to bring me back in a respectable time manner. It better taught me the concept of knowing things can happen in a snap and to enjoy everything before its too late. At some point it also taught me to just accept my flaws because it could always be worse and everything happens for a reason.

Prompt: What is the most challenging part of working in a group? Discuss a time when a group assignment did not go as well as you planned and how you learned from that experience.

Mr. Rease likes putting me in groups with people who dont do anything so the hardest part would definitely be making sure others pull their weight. There's been a few hand fulls of times when I had to hold group members accountable for their lack of assistance for projects. It's just hard because I am now stuck doing most of the work for an assignment that supposed to be done by multiple people. At any given moment I don't want to do the other group members work, I now have to worry for my grade so im forced to do it.

Prompt: What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

I think the most challenging part of writing an essay for me in organizing ideas. I say this because it can get overstimulating. At times the overstimulation can take me to the point of confusion and that's where things are susceptible to getting messy. At this point as a stressful teenager already things can get discouraging when it gets too overstimulating so I then have to fight the urge of giving up.

Prompt: Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

At the point in the beginning of the year when I decided I was going to not only exempt but get all A's, I knew I was going to be able to do it and it was going to be powerful. From August to December I maintained the big goal of all A's and I went through study session, serious lock in moments, ask questions when needed, and more to pursue this goal. I think my turning point was when I saw my name on all the list for all my classes to exempt the final. I say this because that's when I knew I actually did it and it encouraged me to do the same thing this semester.
